UDE® Debugger for Infineon Automotive RISC-V Prototype
The Infineon Automotive RISC-V Prototype enables early software development and testing for next-generation automotive microcontrollers before silicon is available. With the UDE® Universal Debug Engine, PLS provides comprehensive debugging and trace capabilities for this virtual platform, allowing developers to start application development early and prepare for a seamless transition to real RISC-V hardware.
Based on the Synopsys Virtual Development Kit (VDK), the Automotive RISC-V Prototype models the complete microcontroller, including the RISC-V-based multicore cluster, interrupt controller, interprocessor communication, and automotive peripherals. Combined with software drivers and a template project, the platform provides a Software Development Kit (SDK) for pre-silicon software development.

UDE® Debugging Support for Automotive RISC-V Prototype
Multicore Debugging
UDE® provides a unified debugging environment for multicore applications running on the virtual prototype. Dedicated core synchronization features enable coordinated run-control and multicore breakpoints, helping developers analyze interactions between cores and debug complex embedded applications efficiently.
C/C++ and Assembly Debugging
UDE® supports source-level debugging of C and C++ applications compiled with the RISC-V GCC or LLVM compiler from HighTec. Developers can also debug assembly code for the RISC-V Instruction Set Architecture (ISA).
Comprehensive Register Access
UDE® provides a detailed register database for accessing the registers of MCU submodules and peripherals. This enables developers to inspect and analyze the virtual microcontroller's configuration and runtime state directly within the familiar UDE user interface.
Seamless Transition from Virtual Prototype to Real Silicon
UDE® provides the same familiar user interface and debugging workflow for the Automotive RISC-V Prototype as for real microcontrollers. Developers can establish their debugging and runtime-analysis workflows during the pre-silicon phase and continue using the same tool when transitioning to RISC-V-based silicon.
This consistent development environment helps reduce tool changes, preserve established workflows, and accelerate the development of automotive embedded software.
