TriCore TC1796 Support Industries leading Debug Support for TriCore AUDO-NG Family (TC1796 and further derivatives) Lauta, March 2005 - UDE features a flexible and fast target access to TC1796. Beside the standard JTAG connection with maximum performance UDE supports CAN and serial interfaces. Multi-core debugging is a basic characteristic; it allows a debugging of several microcontroller cores or systems in one homogeneous environment. All on-chip debug resources and peripherals are supported in detail.
Universal Debug Engine features the integrated FLASH/OTP programming of the TC1796. Exceeding short cycle times of Erasing-Download-Programming-Verifying are achieved. Speed and stability fulfils the hard requirements in production, test environments and in evaluation of microcontrollers.
The access device family Universal Access Device 2 allows the increasing of the JTAG clock up to 50 MHz with a TC1796 target access. A maximum transfer rate up to 3,5 MByte/s can be achieved. With UDE instruction trace of TC1796 is possible up to a system frequency of 170 MHz. The trace view window enables the direct link from trace sample to the corresponding source code, view of running time on the base of time stamps and search functions.
UDE support the direct access to the TC1796 via CAN bootstrap loader. This is usefully while the first running tests and service tasks as FLASH updates. For Maintenance the debugger can contact the TC1796 while the application is running. A CAN message recorder allows the recording and sending of CAN message. This debugging feature makes it easier to test CAN application part of AUDO-NG software.
The Real Time OS PXROS for TC1796 - a special PXROS debug monitor PXmon library allows Universal Debug Engine to use the JTAG debug channel as fast communication system for exchange of data with a PXROS application running on TC1796. Because the PXROS view is based on HTML scripts, it is easy to extend the analysis or to adapt the GUI on your requirements.
An active JTAG extender is available as an integral part of the UAD2+ devices or as add-on to UAD. The interface cable uses an active signal pod, which features a higher electromagnetic interference resistance and an extended cable length to 50cm and more.
The AUDO-NG emulation device chips contain a separate USB communication unit, which can be used for debugging via USB without additional hardware. UDE supports debugging and FLASH programming via this USB communication channel.
The AUDO-NG family emulation devices implement a new-generation debugging solution called "Multi-Core-Debug-Support". This new full-featured emulator on-silicon opens a new age of debugging capabilities. pls spends more than two years of development to establish a completely new concept to support this very complex debug unit. A new graphical user interface combines the intuitive use of user interfaces well-known from logic-analyzer user front ends with complete support of the whole observation and trace capabilities of the "Multi-Core-Debug-Support" unit.
