Perfect solution simplifies significantly test and debugging

pls launches first emulation toolkits for 32-bit microcontrollers Infineon TC1766ED and TC1796ED

TriBoard TC1796ED Kit Lauta, May 2006 - pls Programmierbare Logik & Systeme offers as the first authorised tool supplier complete emulation kits for Infineon's 32-bit microcontrollers TC1766ED and TC1796ED. The specialised emulation devices for the high end 32-bit microcontrollers TC1766ED and TC1796ED are exclusively available via selected Infineon tool partners and offer additionally to the basic chip function a complete emulator on-chip that includes 512 kBytes memory for trace, profiling and calibration. The complex emulator logic enables a focused monitoring of both integrated 32-bit controllers (TriCore core and PCP) as well as all internal busses.

The emulation device toolkit EDTK1766 for the TC1766ED that is pin compatible to the serial chip TC1766 is based on a test board. The chip is mounted via soldering or removable in a socket. Furthermore the kit contains the debugger software Universal Debug Engine (UDE), a Universal Access Device (UAD) for fast access to the target via JTAG interface and the powerful Universal Emulation Configurator (UEC). The latter provides the easy use of the on-chip emulator via the graphical interface that enables the combination of the parameterised function blocks based on a state machine.

For a fast start working with the EDTK1766 it contains ranked libraries for standard measurements as well as for detecting complex application specific errors. The user can combine, change or extend the libraries in XML format via the graphical interface to fulfil special requirements.

The TC1796ED is not fully compatible to the serial version. Therefore the Emulation Device Toolkit EDTK1796 features in difference to the EDTK1766 always a test board with a two-part socket.

Both plug-and-play emulation kits allow a fast and simple usage of the on-chip emulator and guarantee an optimal efficiency in debugging. The offering is completed with additional sockets and Emulation Devices that are individual available as well as detailed application notes for integrating the kit into the user specific hardware.
