New major version of UDE 2.2

The new major version 2.2 of the UDE is, among other things, fully compatible with Microsoft's Windows Vista technology. Program and data are now strictly separated. This measure makes it simpler for the user, for example, to backup work files. Furthermore, the format of almost all data files has been converted to XML. Thereby, the interoperability with other tools is improved.
Additionally, by use of a new databank technology for symbol processing, the UDE 2.2 addresses the ever growing breadth of embedded applications.

In addition to the established UDE desktop, the user is also now optionally provided with a second user interface that, to a great extent, is similar to Microsoft's Visual Studio 2005. It supports different display modes for the windows, the arrangement in logical containers - optionally with fast tab access -, floating windows as well as auto-hide windows. The new functions enable a clear presentation and fast access to all sorts of different information, which the designer needs for startup and test of a modern embedded application.

An enhanced profiling function, which allows the selection of code regions via functions or program sections, has also been newly implemented with the UDE 2.2. This feature enables the designer to focus on profiling the parts of the application that are of interest to him. The selection can thereby, take place both directly and also flexibly through regular expressions.
Moreover, the configuration of the graphical outputs has been considerably simplified. The outputs allow, for example, the snapshot presentation of values from the target memory, but also the presentation of variables and program conditions during runtime.

The compiler support has been extended with the Wind River Compiler for TriCore, PowerPC and ARM. In addition, the PowerPC implementation of the GNU Tool Chain is also now supported.

Together with the equipment family Universal Access Device 2, the UDE 2.2 supports a large number of popular 16 and 32-bit microcontroller families from Infineon (TriCore, XC2000), Freescale (MPC55xx, i.MX31, MAC71xx), AMCC (PPC440), STMicroelectronics (ST10), Marvell/Intel (PXA255 and PXA27x) as well as additional ARM7 and ARM9 derivatives from NXP, ATMEL, NetSilicon, Texas Instruments and STMicroelectronics.
