UAD or UAD2+, connected via IEEE1394b (FireWire®) 800Mbit/s host adapter, will not work properly under Windows XP SP2. Is therefore a solution available?

Symptoms ...

  • UAD or UAD2+ is properly detected by Windows XP plug and play system
  • Device manager entry  "Universal Access Device(2)"  properties dialog page "Hardware" overall communication  transfer rate reports "transfer test failed"
  • Connection between UAD or UAD2+ and UDE cannot be established
Cause

This problem occurs because Windows XP SP2 changes IEEE1394b host adapter ports to 100Mbits/s speed. The problem is acknowledged by Microsoft ( MS KB article 885222 ).
