pls presents new Universal Emulation Configurator (UEC) for On-Chip-Emulators Hardware independent Configuration Tool simplifies Logic Programming for Filtering of Trace Data Lauta, February 2006 - The Universal Emulation Configurator (UEC) from pls Programmierbare Logik & Systeme now for the first time provides designers with a configuration tool for sophisticated measurement tasks with on-chip- emulators, which allows functional description of tasks on the basis of a state- machine, independent of the actual target or emulator hardware. By assembling predetermined, parameter adjustable partial tasks from extendable libraries, complex analysing jobs can be defined with the UEC on a high abstraction level in an utmost quick and easy way. In order to ensure a highest possible degree of freedom for the user in the description of his analysis task, the Universal Emulation Configurator offers various interfaces, which are hierarchically positioned upon each other. As a first stage an assembler-like so-called Trace Qualification Language (TQL) serves as an adaptor layer between the hardware independent upper layers and the emulation hardware itself. The Notation of the second stage is leaning on the syntax of C. The language designated as High Level TQL (HTQL) allows the user to edit an abstract description even without detailed knowledge of the hardware resources. The trace job is described by simple conditional trace tasks or by a state machine respectively. So even more complex debug jobs can be set up in a relatively easy way. The third stage, which is the actual user interface, consists of a mask-based, block-oriented editor. As front end it is building on the HTQL compiler and generates the appropriate HTQL code from a measuring task assembled from predefined components. The individual components, which contain frequently used measuring tasks, definitions and basic elements for the description of state-machines, are summarized in libraries, which can be extended indefinitely or supplemented by the user's own elements. The XML data format ensures a high degree of modularity, flexibility and usability on top of all. +++ pls Programmierbare Logik & Systeme The pls Programierbare Logik & Systeme GmbH located in Lauta, Germany, was founded in 1990 by Thomas Bauch and Stefan Weiße. The company is among the worldwide leading suppliers of software debugging solutions and complete development tools for the 16 and 32-bit microcontroller family from Infineon technologies, STMicroelectronics, and ARM. The revolutionary software architecture of the Universal Debug Engine (UDE) is optimized for debugging of modern SoC based Systems. The hardware family Universal Access Device (UAD) opens up a fully new dimension in data download speeds with transfer rates of up to 3.5Mbyte/s.
